What a wonderful day in Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park! Such a beautiful place! So much to see and do, and plenty of reasons to come back another day. And such a beautiful day weatherwise.
In the midst of the Bog of Allen, Lullymore is a treasure that gave great joy to the 80 children and 63 adults that attended our fourth annual family day. Families started arriving from 10.30am, from Dublin, Galway, Waterford, Monaghan, Kildare, to name just a few of the represented counties.
The first order of business were the guided walking tours of the area, seeing the replica famine house, the replica stone age village, and of course the fairy bower. Children looked earnestly for newts and frogs in the ponds and fairies in the fairy bower! Then we were treated to a 10-minute trip on the road train through the bog. Then the pet farm, where the children were introduced to Shrek and Princess Fiona (the vietnamese bot bellied pigs), the llamas, the goats, the wallabies, and the falabella miniature horses. Then we took a break for lunch with families having their picnics in the midday sun.
After lunch it was off to the indoor play centre for some children while others went on to play the mini golf. And some children were most reluctant to leave the indoor play centre, only willing to leave if they could go to the outdoor play area! It was then back to the picnic area for the raffle and prize giving, and ths was followed by the outdoor talent show, with any number of children wanting to display their talent, some more than once! Even the parents got in on the act. A little light rain drove us indoors for the announcement of the winners and the lighting of the candles marking the 27th anniversary of the Association. And then the children (and adults!) dived in to the many fairy cakes to be eaten. This finally brought the day to a close at 4.30pm, with all going home happy and a little tired no doubt after the day’s activities and fun.
Many, many thanks to Lullymore and all its wonderful staff who could not have been nicer and more helpful. We really do appreciate the welcome we received and the effort made to make our day a special one. And thanks most of all to all you children, teens and adults who came along and helped make it a very special day.
Looking forward to seeing you all again next year!

Lovely to make some new friends both young and old..
Thanks again.
Hi everyone,
This was our first time attending and just want to say we had a great day our 1 month old daughter didn’t get up to much but our 8 year old boys are already asking when the next day out is also we would like to say that Lullymore were brilliant and Connor was a super host with both adults and the children.
Cormac & RóisÃn really enjoyed the train and the activity area. It was great to a base (cafe) so people could mingle and chat.
Well done on a great day.
Maeve
Thank you for a wonderful day. Ciaran and Aaron really enjoyed meeting up with their friends again. It is a great opportunity to meet and chat to other parents. It was well worth the long drive, thanks again for everything. Elaine.
